Kopi Luwak is coffee made from the droppings of the civet, a small animal found in the jungles of Southeast Asia. The coffee beans are eaten by the civet and then excreted, and after being cleaned and roasted, they sell for a whopping $600 per pound. Kopi Luwak is by no means the only expensive coffee in the world, though.
Even though Kopi Luwak is not exactly a variety of coffee, but more a form of processing, it is called one of the most expensive coffees. Its retail price in the world can reach 550 € or $700 per kilogram, following the Black Ivory coffees’ price of 850 € or $1100 per kilogram.
